Chris is a rocket scientist. Really. I guess “aerospace engineer” is the official term, but it all boils down to the fact that he is a really, really, smart dude. Katie is soft spoken, warm, and genuinely kind. Everything you would want from a special education specialist. (And having gotten her Masters, and going for her Doctorate, she’s a pretty good match for Chris) They are both extremely close to their families. Both are laid back and giggly. Kids flock to them. People adore them. They even have a pet bunny. To say they are sweet and real, is an understatement. If you are one of the lucky people who have met them, you’d totally understand.
Katie and Chris married at the Spring Valley United Methodist Church in Dallas, where her Mother had married her Father years before. The reception at the Dallas World Aquarium followed. Katie, Chris, and their many guests spent a while touring the facility while sipping on tropical frozen drinks. The facility sent a diver down to the manatee tank with a big sign saying “Congratulations to Chris and Katie”. Everyone loved it, especially the children, who practically had to be peeled away in order to join the reception.
The reception itself was done in natural hues of brown, cream and green. The flowers were peonies and purple orchids. Orchids also decorated the bride’s cake. The groom’s cake was chocolate with orange filling and décor. Both were displayed in front of a beautiful aquarium featuring tropical fish.
The guests had a blast, and they literally danced the night away, until Chris and Katie headed out in their chauffeur driven Lincoln town car. The next morning, the couple headed out to their dream honeymoon in Costa Rica.

For those of you who haven’t heard, our Koi Pond, fence, gazebo, and lawn furniture were killed by a HUGE tree limb that fell during a storm.
Everything was quicky replaced except for the pond. The pond was a really beloved part of our back yard. We wanted to find an artist, and we interviewed several people before we found one.
Due to the heat, and unforseen damage, the job took a bit longer than we expected. But I have to say, Joey and Chris went over the top, and did MUCH more than we ever expected. The pricing was very fair, but what hooked us was the vision, and the absolute dedication to artistry that this company promised. I didn’t want a bunch of rocks stacked up. I wanted a very natural sanctuary for my beautiful fish.
And that is exactly what I recieved.
The job is now complete, and I will consider Joey a friend for life. The fish are happily jumping under the falls, and I want to almost camp out in my backyard because I never want to leave it. It’s gorgeous!
I highly recommend Aquatic Artistry to everyone. If you are patient, you will recieve a work of art that no one else in town can do. They take a ton of pride in their work.

Jennifer and Cory met at the office of the Accounting firm that they both work at. They found that they shared a fascination with adventures of all kinds. Shortly before Thanksgiving in 2006, they had their first date exploring the Lakewood area of Dallas. They also discovered that they had a mutual love of travel, aquariums, hiking, and snorkeling. Neither of them describes themselves as “outdoorsy”, but they obviously have quite a bit of curiosity and wonder about them.
They decided to marry at one of their favorite local haunts, The Dallas World Aquarium. They adore the Manatee (a strange looking half wrinkly puppy/half seal type creature), and what better place to hold their wedding ceremony, than directly in front of the tanks that those little guys frolick in?
Jennifer wore a beautiful white gown, embolden with these watery blue crystal flowers. Nothing crazy, just a slight, classy accent. At certain points, you had to look closely to see them. At other times, the blue flowers shimmered as brightly as the water in the tanks.
Cory wore the classic black suit, with a tropical flower as the detail. Both of them looked incredible. They were ready for this day. And when you witness them together, you will instantly understand that these two people are meant…..destined….to be together.
We had a terrific location to shoot in, and great subjects to shoot. We even talked our way into the Shark Tank area for a few quick snaps. Everything about the wedding was beyond lovely. Beautiful, fun, and full of adventure. Just like these two wonderful people.

Jennifer loved the purse that so perfectly matched her little crystal flowers. Her new mother in law offered her diamond necklace for Jennifer to wear
Jennifer preparing for the big moment. Someone described this photo as the birth of a bride. I thought that was cool.
Jennifer looking as glamorous as any Hollywood star
The rings
So many beautiful Tropical details. So fitting. So pretty.
The ceremony in front of the Manatee Tanks
The shark tanks kinda freaked me out. I felt like I was in the final scene of “Open Water”. Didn’t bother them though….
A special moment during the first dance….ahhhhh love….what’s not to love?
Cake cutting…..and cutting up the dance floor
Putting his dance on
They were having so much fun that a duck tried to crash the reception. He was more than welcome, and people tried to welcome him in.
The couple leave for two fantastic, fun filled, adventure seeking, weeks in Hawaii. We love you guys!!!!!!
Ashley’s a bit of a “do it yourself-er” as well as an environmentally aware kind of gal. But don’t think for a minute that this wasn’t one of the prettiest weddings we’ve ever gotten to photograph.
Ashley spent months studying “green” trends in wedding decor. She chose the Ranch House at Austin Ranch because of it’s natural outdoor beauty. She decorated the ceremony/reception areas with Chinese lanterns, and balls of flowers which she hung from towering oak trees. Even her color scheme of green, brown, and cream was earthy and outdoorsy. The centerpieces lanterns layed in plots of tall grass (plantable after the ceremony of course!), and surrounded them with beautiful pond stones. The sounds of cowbells resounded as the couple left for there honeymoon, and the guests left with small pine trees as favors.
Miss San Antonio Sang:
Mike and I would also like to thank Ashley Munn of Ashley Munn Photography - Waco, TX for shooting with us. Ashley was a complete blast to work with, and has an unbelievable eye for great angles and composition. Thank you, Ashley!
Katie has a warm smile, a soft voice, and the kind of wonderfully disarming personality a special education teacher needs to help children regain their confidence, and I’m sure she makes a good one. Watching her interact with people, especially kids, is such a joy. She’s like a cool breeze on a hot summer day.
She decided on the Dallas Arboretum for her bridal portraits, and even the gorgeous blooms couldn’t beat her beauty.
Stay tuned for her wedding photos, which will be following in the next few weeks.

Well sadly for us, but happily for him, JD has his own company up and running, and he’s gotten so busy that we needed to bring in a new team member. Meet the fabulous Tom!

Tom’s been in the business for the last 20 years, and is an excellent shooter and all around guy. We are happy to welcome him aboard.
We’ll miss working with JD though, and wish him every blessing with his new company.
A few JD moments:

Mari and Charlie are adorable, smart, and wickedly talented.
They decided to tie the knot at a location that they actually designed. They are both architects. And the place that you will see below, and if you pass through Dallas on 75 is pretty hard to miss. They are the brainchildren behind The Towers at Park Lane, The Heights at Park Lane, and The Flats at Park Lane.
They decided to get married at The Flats at Park lane, on the 5th floor, which is an outdoor deck. Right in front of a bonfire which they designed for the facility. Now how crazy cool is that?
Rain threatened, but we lucked out yet again, and it quit right before the ceremony was about to start. The chairs, which had been moved inside as a precaution, went back outside again. We couldn’t have asked for better weather.
Mari and Charlie have a mutual love for chocolate chip cookies, and M&Ms. Both of them are just mad for them. Mari’s daughters made them a beautiful cookie jar filled with, of course chocolate chip cookies, and personalized M&Ms.
The Grooms Cake, was a box made of chocolate chip cookies, and was filled with….chocolate chip cookies!
Everything about the event was top tier.
We were lucky to have been the photogs on this one, and we are really proud to have been included.
