month: August 2009

Well I’m pretty sure every bride on the planet is aware of the fantastic network and magazine “The Knot” has for the wedding industry. Every year, they have a big get together, and this year it was at the fantastic W Hotel.
“The Knot” tapped some of the best vendors in Dallas to put on a fantastic party for us. It was amazing. There was a marching band, great tasty wandering hors d’oeuvres of which I ate more than I was probably supposed to, and they also had a hot dog and french fry bar with all the fixings. All of this in AMAZING lighting, underneath a wealth of fabric draping, and gorgeous flowers. Everything about the event was top notch.
It was so great to mingle with old and new friends.
Dallas Photogs are an amazing bunch, and we like each other way more than most people think we would. It’s kind of like opposing lawyers after a trial….we hang out and have fun, and respect each other’s talent. On this night, we put all that aside, and just had fun.
I also got to meet a ton of great friends and vendors I had worked with, as well as new people I hadn’t had the honor to meet yet.

Many Thanks to our Rep Jessica Dillon, and to “The Knot” of Dallas for throwing us such a fun party.

Justin and Rachel met 11 years ago at DeSoto High School. In October of 2008 he purposed to her at the Texas State Fair at the top of the Texas Star Ferris Wheel.
Justin and Rachel are super athletic people, and enjoy scuba diving, running, sand volleyball, water sports and all manner of activities. The more extreme and adventurous the better. They also love participating in poker tournaments, attending rock concerts, family bbqs and travel.
When Rachel was planning her wedding, she knew she wanted something glamorous and different. She wanted vintage and elegant.
She wore a long strapless gown from Circle Park Bridal which when bustled turned into a mermaid style bottom. She also wore a birdcage veil which she topped off with a white feather fastinator. The final touch was a long strand of pearls which she tied in the back. She looked very Hollywood indeed.
Justin dressed in a white on white tux, with vest and bowtie. (I always love to see the guys in bowties…it’s just so Cary Grant!)
They married at the Cliff Temple Baptist Church in Oak Cliff. Rachel jokes that the favorite part of her wedding was walking in and realizing everyone had actually shown up.
Afterwords everyone headed out to the Hickory Street Annex. If you haven’t ever seen it, it’s super cool. The tables decor was beautiful and the ladies at Timeless Elegance went all out on the floral design. Other cool details were the lime accents. The crowning glory though, was the 200 carmel apples encrusted with almonds that Rachel had slaved over for a week.
The guests were served a beautiful plated dinner, and then the party broke out bigtime. I got tired just watching everyone rock out. I don’t think Rachel and Justin ever sat down.
The couple left in a vintage white Rolls Royce, with a bright red interior and a scrolling marque announcing that Rachel and Justin were “Just Married”.
The next morning they left for their honeymoon in South Whales, Sydney, Australia where they flew to Cairns Queensland to dive the Great Barrier Reef. The couple was amazed at the site of the Sydney Opera House. Rachel described it as, “The most amazing site”.
Congratulations Rachel and Justin!

Blair and Laura met at Texas A&M University where they were both studying accounting. Now they each work for a Big 4 accounting firm which allows them to travel extensively, something they both enjoy. (They have been all over Europe and Asia together). They also share a love of Movies, and as Laura puts it, “a terrible addiction to reality TV shows”.
Blair was so sweet in his purposal. Laura thought they were going to church, but Blair picked her up in a limo and brought her to the Dallas Arboretum instead, where he asked her to marry him.
August 1st, they made it official. It was a rainy day at the First United Methodist Church of Dallas, but rain on your wedding day is good luck right? The rain stopped just after the wedding allowing everyone a dry get away to the Ballroom at the Dallas Arts Center. (If you haven’t been there, it’s gorgeous!) Everyone had a wonderful time. Descriptions on photos to follow.

Tiffany is a petite, pearlescent 4th grade School Teacher. Zac, who is a project engineer for a commercial construction company, is tall and sweet. They met in January of 08 in the parking lot of the church they both attend, the beautiful Prestonwood Baptist. If you haven’t been there, it’s HUGE. It’s like a little city. And it’s just gorgeous. Naturally they decided to get married there. It’s big and brightly lit, and the ceremony was so pretty and so touching. Tiffany wore a beautiful white gown trimmed in bright green. Zac wore a classic suit.
Later, the party was ON at Coyote Ridge Golf Club. The place was decorated to the hilt, and the guests enjoyed dancing and dining and just having a great time.
We just adore Zac and Tiffany, and we wish them all the best in life. But somehow, I already know that they will achieve it!

Rachael is a super artistic grad student, who dearly loves her Tommy. They had a beautiful wedding at Royal Lane Baptist Church followed by a terrific reception at the Dallas Arts District Banquet Facility.
Rachael wore a beautiful lace covered gown with pearls, and Tommy wore a suit with champagne colored accents.

The same accents followed over to the decor at the Dallas Arts Center with lots of flowing champagne colored linens, pearls, crystal, and elegant floral and candles.

The brides cake was staggering at four tiers, and decorated with dusky pink and white flowers. The grooms cake was decorated in a Star Wars theme.

Everyone had wonderful time!

Laura is so kind, and so pretty. She has a smile that lights up a room. Her voice is gentle. Her manner is genuine. You would think a girl like this would be more on the traditional side, but no! She loves to play!
She wanted her bridals to be something total different, and she brought along her inner supermodel.
I can’t tell you how humid and horribly hot it was the day we shot her bridal photos, and I asked her several times if she needed to stop and rest….but no. She was like the Energizer bunny. She just kept going, and going, and going. All the time without so much as a bead of sweat, or complaint.
And wow, I’m so happy that she was such a trooper. Her bridal shoot was one of my recent faves.
