month: September 2009

I’m needing to limit my office hours to spend more time with my family and husband. I’ll still get the same amount of processing/shooting work done each day, but I’ll no longer be able to take late night meetings or business calls.
Running an in home business can sometimes be a 24 hour a day job. :-)

The new office hours are 6 am-6pm. As always, if you need something in a hurry, or have a burning question, don’t hesitate to call no matter the hour of day. Otherwise, I’ll be perky and refreshed from 6am to 6pm 7 days a week.

Thanks in advance!

These two are definitely fun people to work with. Jennifer is drop dead gorgeous, and her now husband Eric looks like a model as well. What could go wrong????
A friend hooked them up outside of the library at Texas State, where they both attended. They fell hard for one another.
On Jennifer’s 21st birthday, Eric took her to a restaurant in Austin. The manager brought out one rose after another, with a card that Eric had arranged about why Eric loved Jennifer so much on each card. There was twelve roses and twelve cards (and I’m sure he could have gone on for infinity), but the last rose was delivered on a silver platter with the final rose. The card on that rose asked, “Will you marry me”? Attached was her super beautiful engagement ring. (Are you guys tearing up yet? I did!) Then they went upstairs to a private area where 40 of their closest friends and family awaited them. Jennifer describes it as “amazing”. Yes, I would agree that it was.
Eric and Jennifer love their church, Bible study, working out, boating, and their doggies. The have two boxers, Zeus and Rosco, and a toy yorkie, Paisley.
Jennifer and Eric’s favorite part of their wedding was seeing all Jennifer’s family come in from California and beyond that seeing EVERYONE have such a great time. (And they really did. The reception was first tier and absolutely flawless).
They Honeymooned in the beautiful St. Lucia, where they met 4 other couples that were really cool and they all went on an excursion tour of the island and zip lined together. They played flip cup and went to a local street party and had a blast.
I asked Jennifer what advice she would give to other brides and grooms for their wedding day. She said, “Don’t sweat the small stuff….if it rains, OH WELL!! The only thing that truly matters is at the end of the day, you will be married to the man/woman of your dreams. :-) )
So true Jennifer!
The day that Jennifer and Eric got married, there was a torrential flood. It never stopped raining. Rain is supposed to be lucky for a weddings so they have bucket loads of luck, but they don’t need it.
It was soooooo important for Jennifer to have beautiful outdoor photos. Unfortunately we couldn’t take them that day due to the weather. Stay tuned for their “day after” shoot. I know they will be gorgeous, because the two of them are gorgeous, and the love, which is so obvious to anyone who sees them in person, is going to shine through. Check back later in the week to see the “after shoot”.

I’m convinced after meeting Jennifer that some people are just born with an “elegance” gene. She looks a bit like Eva Longoria, but has the style sense of Jackie O. (Did I mention she was fun too? She had Mike and I cracking up the entire shoot).

She designed the dress she wore in these photos, with help from the alteration magic of Mii of Mii’s Bridal. While the dress had many beautiful touches, the most elegant of all was her jeweled collar. (Rarely seen outside of Europe). When I first met her, she told me about this particular design decision. “I think high collars are so womanly. I’m having jewels put on the inside of the collar, so only my husband can see them”. The collar was also detachable for the reception.

Her reception was being held at the stunning ZaZa, so we were allowed to shoot there. The location was jaw droppingly amazing. Rose of Zaza was incredible. If they have any open dates still left for 2010, I’d advise you to book immediately. There is really no place that I know of that has this kind of WOW factor.

He is. :-)
He’s a very talented mixing artist based in Virginia. He’s in a contest for the best remix of a Black Eyed Peas song, and I want you all to listen to it because it’s terrific. Not just because he’s my son, but because it’s REALLY good.
So have a listen, and vote..

I think we can all agree with this. Kanye West is simply the biggest jerk ever.

The VMA’s are always a disaster. This one was no expection. This time, jerkdude Kanye West made his mark as biggest loser on the planet.

Here is what happened just in case you are on an island somewhere:
Taylor Swift (who’s music I don’t really know, as I’m a classic rock kind of girl) won the VMA for best female video artist. She’s 19 years old, and already a huge success. (You go girl!) So she’s up there doing her acceptance speech and crazydude runs up, takes the mike from her (she’s shocked) and starts talking about how Beyonce should have won the award. Taylor was so saddened by the outburst that the crew had to lead her offstage. To her credit, she didn’t throw a fit. She just seemed crushed. What was more upsetting was that while a lot of the people in the audience booed Kanye, many also cheered him.

But now to the good part, or at least the goodness part….. Beyonce won an award for “All the Single Ladies” (you know you’ve heard it during every bouquet toss for the last year!). I don’t listen much to Beyonce either, but I tell ya what….I will now. That lady was a class act. She explained that she won her first award at 17 years old, and that it was the best day of her life….and then….she called up Taylor Swift so that Taylor could finish her speech.
That’s class.

Bravo Taylor and Beyonce on your wonderful behavior!
Kanye, who stole the biggest day of a dedicated and talented teenagers life, I hope no one buys one of your music ever again.

Jennifer is not just drop dead gorgeous, she’s kind and funny as well. She and her fiance (now husband as of a few days ago) are one of our favorite couples of all time. They are just the kind of people who go out of their way to treat everyone they meet as old friends.
Jennifer wanted something different for her bridal photos. We talked about different options, but this lady knows exactly what she wants, and decided she LOVED the Old Red Courthouse in Downtown Dallas. And I have to hand it to her….it was a terrific location.
Of course it didn’t hurt that she’s so beautiful, we could have photographed her anywhere and it would have turned out great!

Cody and Lindsey met through E-Harmony. You might be surprised at just how many couples we have that met in exactly the same way. In fact we’ve had so many that I tell all my single friends about it. Maybe it’s the matching up thing. I don’t know, but whatever they are doing over there, it seems to be working.
Lindsey says she and Cody were matched after only three weeks. They have been together ever since. They have a mutual love of movies and sports, and the Lord. They watch football and basketball together. Although they both adore the Dallas Cowboys, there is a friendly rivalry when it comes to basketball. They share the love of a long haired dachshund named Mojo. (I’ve never seen a long haired dachshund before, but Lindsey describes him as a cute mess).
The day after Christmas, 2008, Cody took Lindsey to the Gaylord Texan which had been turned into a winter wonderland. Being their favorite holiday, it was already special, but Cody made it even more memorable. They dined on a delicious dinner and then Cody whipped out a scrapbook her had made in which a funny poem. He wanted Lindsey to have something tangible for that “This is how he proposed” moment. It still sits on their coffee table today. How sweet is that???
Their favorite part of the wedding, besides becoming man and wife of course, was seeing people enjoy the wedding so much. Cody says his very favorite part of the wedding was watching Lindsey walk down the aisle. (And she WAS DEFINATELY a stunner). They both thought the reception was the best part of the day.
I asked Lindsey if she had any advice for future brides. Here is what she said:

The advice that I would give to other grooms and brides is… don’t listen to anyone! People try to tell you during the whole process, “Don’t stress about (blank), you won’t even notice on your wedding day. I can’t even remember WHO came to my wedding so you don’t need to worry about that” or something of that sort. I say the opposite. If it is important to you, stress about it! Get it done! Don’t skip over something because you don’t think it will be a big deal, because you WILL notice those small details on your wedding day. It is what makes the whole thing special and perfect. I’m glad that I stressed about making custom favors and programs and napkins, etc, six months in advance, because THOSE were the things that I noticed and loved on our day.

For their honeymoon they went to SeaWorld. They had a blast, and even got a caricature made. The artist drew them in their wedding dress in tux. Lindsey said it would be a great reminder of the honeymoon and the start of their life as man and wife.
